Obedience classes...very helpful
Trainers (Mike and Karen) are fantastic! Thankful to have a service dog training facility in NH
We took in a second rescue dog, rather unexpectedly just over 6 months ago. We already had an elderly rescue, so we were used to a lower energy, well-behaved dog. Our new rescue, Nessie, was a basket case! Not only was her behavior out-of-control, she is a mix of strong breeds. Every trainer I contacted (approx. 3) told us to medicate her or put her down. We were told that she was aggressive and dangerous. I reached out to College for Pets as a last ditch effort to see if we could help our new rescue that simply didn't seem to understand how to interact with people or a home setting. At 2 years old, this dog didn't know any basic commands, had been raised in shelters and rejected by 4 previous families. Mike did not turn us away and even spent more time than we scheduled to do a very thorough evaluation of Nessie. He was able to trigger all her reactions and determined that she simply had never been shown how to handle new situations so she was anxiously scared. Mike gave us activities to practice at home to help her become more confident and secure, and even helped us train her to ring a doorbell when she wants to come in from outside! (She used to jump at the door and scratch it all up) Nessie has been with us for just over 6 short months and is a completely different dog. Mike believed that Nessie's behavior was a byproduct of her conditioning and lack of positive exposure to new experiences, and that with time, patience, consistency and practice, we could help Nessie experience life in a fulfilling way. Well, it is working! Nessie has grown by leaps and bounds - and so have we :-) Thank you, Mike, for doing what you do through College for Pets.
Before enrolling my White Siberian Husky into White Mountain College, I had a very disobedient dog. As a new dog owner of this breed I was lost, stressed, and unsure about what to do. I am so glad I found Mike and enrolled my sweet Alaska into the Bachelors board and train program. Not only has she acquired amazing obedience skills, Mike and his staff helped with the transition back home. Not only do we have an obedient dog, we are able to enjoy her without the stress that the disobedience caused. Thanks to Mike, I now have the knowledge to continue sharpening the skills Alaska learned while having fun in the process! Thank you Mike and staff for everything you have done for me and Alaska!
Thank you Mike for all your help with Theo. He is my best friend, and the only one I can truly trust in my life. Having him with me 24/7 has made my life better and makes it easier for me to deal with everything that is going on. You helped us reach that breakthrough in training to where Theo is now a Service Dog! I could not have done it without you!
